Bermudian Troy Douglas (pictured above) barely missed out on first place in the 400 metres event at the Adriaan Paulen Memorial IAAF invitation track and field meet in Holland on Saturday.

Douglas placed second with a time of 46.32 seconds, while rival Neil De Silva of Trinidad was first in 46.23. Third was Guy Bullock of Britain, who clocked 46.77.

The creditable performance puts Douglas, along with triple jumper Brian Wellman, in good positions to bring home medals from this summer's Commonwealth Games.
