Senior Winter League contenders YMSC Lady Bluebirds and Warwick Workmans Club Pink Panthers extended their unbeaten streaks at Bernard Park on Saturday.

Last year’s league runners up, Lady Bluebirds, got past Signworx Netts 50-38 while Panthers handed Robin Hood Tigers a 58-37 defeat in another high scoring affair.

Danielle Raynor marked her return to Lady Bluebirds’ line-up with a clinical display of shooting, scoring 44 goals to lead her team’s offence.

Kimale Evans (14) and Jasmyn Renfroe (12) combined for 26 points in a losing cause for Netts.

Veteran goal shooter, Debbie DeShields, continued her prolific start to the season after scoring a team high 37 points in Panthers’ comfortable win over Tigers. And she received solid support from Kirstin Saltus who chipped in with 21 points.

Siblings Jahkenya Trott (26) and Jahtuere Trott (11) combined for 37 points for Tigers.

Lady Bluebirds and Panthers will go head to head in their next outing in a top of the table clash that could go some way towards deciding the league championship.

The remaining Senior Winter League contest saw YMSC Blazzin Bluebirds record their first win of the season after prevailing 38-23 over YMSC Bluebirds Too.

Fredricka Samuels scored 31 goals for Blazzin Bluebirds while Keizhari Knights replied with 13 for Bluebirds Too.

Saturday also saw the start of the new Junior League season which commenced with the first round of the Harold Doc Dowling Tournament involving Under-12 and Under-15 teams as well as a shooting competition.

Under-12 action saw NVCC Lady Rams, Netts Whites and YMSC Baby Bluebirds claim a win each.

Lady Rams edged Netts Greens 3-2 while Netts Whites beat Baby Bluebirds 7-1 before the latter bounced back to hand Netts Greens a 9-0 loss.

Warriors did not compete due to player shortage.

Under-15 action saw Netts Whites complete the round with an unblemished record.

Netts Whites won all of their matches against Lady Rams (9-4), Netts Greens (8-5) and YMSC Bluebird Juniors (4-3).

Lady Rams, Bluebird Juniors, Bluebird Young-uns and Netts Greens managed one win each.

Bluebird Juniors and Lady Rams also played to a 3-3 draw in an evenly contested match.

Bluebirds Juniors’ Kessia Jackson won the shooting competition after making seven out of ten attempts at goal.
