A group show by Plein Air Painters of Bermuda (PAPOB) opens at the Bermuda Arts Centre at Dockyard on Sunday.

Everyone who has worked with the group, which was started by well-known artist Jonah Jones about 18 months ago, has been invited to participate, the idea being to showcase the group and also encourage anyone else who may wish to join.

The mixed media exhibition will include oils, acrylics, watercolour and pastels, as well as working drawings and work in progress.

The objective of PAPOB is to introduce painters at all levels of expertise to the joys and tribulations of working on location (painting between rain squalls is a new experience for most people!) and anyone with a current e-mail address can join.

Artists working in any media are welcome.

The e-mail address is important because every second week Mr. Jones despatches an e-mail giving details of where the group will meet.

Locations can vary from private homes to public spaces all over the Island, and absolute beginners and experienced professionals can be found working side by side from 9.30 a.m. to 12 noon.

Generally, the more experienced painters spend some time going around the group offering advice and encouragement to anyone who needs help.

At the end of a session, all work is critiqued by the group, the object of which is to help people grow and improve their painting skills.

At present the group is 60-strong, with approximately ten people showing up for a session. For further information e-mail chrisgmlogic.bm

'Plein Air' will continue through December 5. For further information see today's Bermuda Calendar.
