Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Challenger event scheduled for

The XL Tennis Classic will feature some of the world's best men in the tennis world who are ranked in the top 100.

"XL is pleased and proud to be associated with such a prestigious tournament,'' said Jim Ansaldi yesterday, the Senior Vice President of Marketing for XL. "This event will serve both to improve the calibre of sport in Bermuda and to further enhance Bermuda's reputation as a quality venue for major international sporting events.'' Alec Anderson, an attorney with Conyers, Dill & Pearman and President of Bermuda Tennis Promotions revealed earlier this week that several big name stars are being invited to participate in the inaugural event including Grant Connell, Aaron Krickstein, MaliVai Washington, David Wheaton and Todd Martin.

CRICKET CRI Somerset Cricket Club will host a Cup Match trial tomorrow starting at noon with Richard Basden captaining one team and Dexter Basden the other.

Richard Basden's XI: Richard Basden, Curtis Jackson, Andre Manders, Jeff Richardson, James Swan, Vivian Simons, Cordell Gilbert, Toriano Davis, Steven Brown, Rodney Fubler.

Dexter Basden's XI: Dexter Basden, Ferdinand Thorne, Albert Steede, Roger Hunt, Wayne Richardson, Kevin Fubler, Anthony Manders, Dwayne Basden, Mark Trott, Charles Swan.

Players are to meet at the club at 10.30 a.m.

ATHLETICS ATH The prize presentation for the Junior National Championships, held two weeks ago, will be held in the boardroom of the Department of Youth, Sport & Recreation today from 5.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m.
