left the Galley Restaurant at the Mariners' Club after nearly two years in business there.

The Powers closed down their operation just over a week ago because it was no longer feasible for them to continue operating the restaurant, Mrs. Power said.

"The restaurant was doing very well,'' she said, adding that the dining room was packed full during lunches and dinners, especially on Fridays' fish and chips nights.

"We apologise to our customers,'' Mrs. Power said.

Mrs. Power, whose husband Alan was the chef at the Galley Restaurant, said the couple will continue to operate their catering business as usual, and plan to reopen a restaurant in a different location sometime in the future.

Power Catering took over the restaurant at Mariners' Club on Richmond Road in 1990, while continuing to cater for private functions.

The couple was allowed to open the private club to non-members for lunches and dinners.
