Caliban's offers al fresco dining

renovations, offers al fresco dining morning, noon and night. Enjoy breakfast on the beach, dine under the stars or linger over a drink at the beach bar in a beautiful South Shore setting. Located within the Ariel Sands Beach Club property in Devonshire, Caliban's is just a five minute drive from town. A unique menu features international cuisine, complemented by an excellent wine list and entertainment most evenings. Breakfast is available from eight to 11 a.m., lunch is served from noon to 2:45 p.m., and dinner starts at 6:30 p.m.

In addition, the seaside bar is open from noon to one a.m. Samples from the new lunch menu include appetisers like panfried codfish cakes with a tangy banana raisin chutney or potato skins topped with green onions, bacon, cheddar cheese and sour cream. Also available are a variety of soups including specialties like Bermuda fish chowder. Entrees include edibles like Hawaiian chicken salad in a crispy tortilla shell, an English muffin topped with crabmeat and tomato glazed with cheddar cheese, and a grilled chicken breast on a sesame bun glazed with brie or Mozzarella cheese and special sauce. For dessert lovers, Ariel's homemade chocolate cheesecake is a favourite as is the apple pie a la mode. For dinner, tempting starters include sundried tomato Caesar salad sprinkled with fresh Parmesan, Caliban's House Salad, grilled shrimp marinated in citrus juices and rum served with a tropical mango lime relish, and a filo basket filled with wild mushrooms sauteed in port, atop a tomato balsamic salsa. Char grilled Atlantic salmon flavoured with a warm shitake mushroom vinaigrette, a whole roast chicken breast filled with basil mousse on a roast red pepper sauce or a rack of lamb coated in rosemary meaux mustard crust on grilled polenta and courgette flavoured with basil olive oil are just a few of the dinner entrees available. Tempting treats for dessert include the steamed chocolate and hazelnut pudding with a melting centre or brandy snaps filled with cinnamon ice cream on Bailey's sauce. Whatever you choose, this exotic new restaurant on the edge of the sea is sure to leave you with a memorable dining experience.
