Smith's gets a tavern

Squire in Somerset but there were no taverns in Smith's Parish. So the Hunt Club Tavern was established to service the people of Smith's Parish. In January of 1994 Mr. Donald Hassell looked into getting a liquor licence for the Cottage Bakery. And to attain the licence it was necessary to transform the Bakery into a Tavern. Mr. Hassell saw this as an opportunity to create a service for the people of Smith's Parish. So in July of 1994 he began working out the details of creating the venture with Mr. Richard Butz and Mr. Steel Butz. It was agreed that Mr. Hassell would manage the Tavern and Mr. (Richard) Butz would handle the finances. And because of his 12 years of construction experience Mr. Butz would also build the new Tavern. Mr. Butz invested a total of 1.5 million dollars into the project. At first Mr. Hassell wanted to name the establishment Fox & Hound which is a typical English Pub name. He then decided it would be best to focus on a theme that was relevant to the surrounding community. Finally it was decided that the Tavern would have an equestrian theme. This would reflect the interests of Smith's Parish which is very equestrian and agriculturally orientated. And it would also give the local Hunt Club a home base. RESTAURANT SUPPLEMENT
