yesterday announced the first advanced facsimile services to be offered on the Island.

Subscribers to IBL's Internet services can now send faxs to correspondents not on the Internet and will save more than 40 percent on costs, according to a release from the company.

"Fax communication is a key productivity tool for businesses with time sensitive information that needs to be distributed rapidly and economically,'' said Mr. Nicholas Weare, IBL CEO.

The IBL offering extends the capabilities of Internet e-mail to over 40 million fax machines, the company reported.

In addition to Internet-based faxes, IBL is also offering a variety of enhanced fax services like BroadcastFAX which gives customers the ability to automatically fax to multiple destinations simultaneously. The customer receives a report of which fax numbers received the documents as well as the time and date of receipt.

BroadcastFAX is intended for distribution of news letters, press releases and announcements.

Another service, TravelFAX, is designed to allow the tourism industry to promote special events to over 30,000 travel agents and over 11,000 corporate meeting planners in the US, Canada and the UK. IBL has collected fax numbers of the agents and planners.

"Local tourism companies have been at a disadvantage in selling their services to world markets where travel agents want up to the minute availability and discount information. The Bermudian tourism industry will now be second to none in their ability to more finely target audiences and deliver materials in a timely and efficient manner.''
