Hotshot Smith nets brace

Hotshot Jonte Smith continued his superb goal scoring exploits with Ryman League side Metropolitan Police in the UK yesterday.The Bermudian striker netted a brace in the Blues' emphatic 4-0 home drubbing of Hastings United to take his season tally to 18 goals in only 12 appearances.Smith opened the scoring for the hosts who dominated proceedings in the eighth minute after volleying home Craig Brown's pass from eight yards.Met Police then increased their lead with two goals in a five minute span from frontman Alan Tait and a Sean Ray own goal to take a commanding 3-0 lead into the break.Smith completed the scoring in the 50th minute when he converted from the penalty spot after Steve Sutherland was felled in the box.Commenting on his team's convincing win, Smith told The Royal Gazette: “It was a real good performance from all of the players and was probably our best performance all season.“I was just glad to get on the end of two chances. I've been in a good run of form and just trying to make it count for as long as I can.”Smith, 18, is currently on loan to Met Police from League One side Crawley Town.The Blues will face high-flying Whitehawk on the road in their next league encounter.
