Third man charged in attempted murder of Kuma Smith
A third Pembroke was charged with the attempted murder of Kuma Smith, 28 in Magistrates? Court yesterday.
Akono Shakir Parsons, 23 of Deepdale Road East, Pembroke was charged with attempted murder, assault, possessing an offensive weapon and damaging a motorcycle in Pembroke on January 5.
Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner said the charges were indictable and must be tried in Supreme Court. Parsons did not need to enter a plea and was remanded into custody pending his reappearance with his co-accused on January 24.
Crown counsel Cindy Clarke said she objected to bail.
But Parsons? lawyer Peter Farge said he was making ?no application for bail at this time?.
Parson?s co-accused are Harron Lee Powell Evans, 29, of Tills Hill, Pembroke, Davon Michael Marson, 27, of Happy Valley Lane, Pembroke, and Jamiko St. Clair Mole Gibbons, 23, of Happy Valley Road, Devonshire.
Evans and Marson have also been charged with Mr. Smith?s attempted murder.
But Gibbons is only charged with assaulting Mr. Smith, and possessing a machete and was released on $5,000 bail.
Like Parsons, Marson and Evans were remanded in custody
Marson was charged with possessing a machete and Evans with a gardening hoe.
Parsons is also alleged to have been in possession of a machete.
Police spokesman Dwayne Caines said Parsons was arrested on Wednesday after he turned himself in to Police.
Police scoured North Hamilton on Wednesday looking for Parsons, who soon contacted Police by telephone after the second raid to let them know where he was.
In the January 5 attack, Mr. Smith suffered an eight-inch gash on the left side of his head and lost his little finger.
Yesterday, a spokeswoman from the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital said Mr. Smith had been discharged after spending eight days in hospital.
