(Bloomberg) ? Jardine Cycle & Carriage Ltd., which sells Mercedes-Benz cars in Singapore, said second-quarter profit declined 52 percent after contribution from its Indonesian unit fell and administrative costs increased. Net income fell to $38.2 million in the three months ended June, or 11.33 cents a share, from $80.4 million, or 24.05 cents, a year earlier, Jardine Cycle said in a statement to the Singapore stock exchange.
Sales jumped to $1.7 billion from $271 million a year earlier. Contributions to profit by Indonesia?s largest auto distributor PT Astra International dropped. Indonesians deferred car purchases after the government doubled fuel prices and borrowing costs rose to the highest in about three years.
