Sheridan to be BIFF?s ?filmmaker in focus?
Oscar-nominated writer/director Jim Sheridan will present three of his films at the seventh Bermuda International Film Festival, March 19-25.
Mr. Sheridan will introduce, and be available for a question-and-answer session with the audience, for the screenings of ?In America?, ?In the Name of the Father? and ?My Left Foot?.
Mr. Sheridan was nominated for an Academy Award this year for his latest film, ?In America?. He was nominated with his daughters Kirsten and Naomi for Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen for his story of an Irish immigrant family in Hell?s Kitchen, New York City, in the early 1980s. Mr. Sheridan?s film stars Samantha Morton, Paddy Considine and Djimon Hinsou.
?In America? will screen on the festival?s opening night, March 19, at Southside Cinema at 7 p.m. Mr. Sheridan will also present ?In the Name of the Father? and ?My Left Foot?, both of which earned Mr. Sheridan Academy Award nominations as Best Director. He also earned a Best Picture nomination for ?In the Name of the Father?, and Best Screenplay nominations for both films, sharing the nominations with Terry George for ?In the Name of the Father? and with Shane Connaughton for ?My Left Foot?. Actors Daniel Day-Lewis and Brenda Fricker won Oscars for ?My Left Foot?. ?My Left Foot? will screen on Saturday, March 20 at 4 p.m. at the Liberty Theatre. ?In the Name of the Father? will screen on Sunday, March 21 at 6.30 p.m. at the Liberty Theatre.
Tickets for the seventh Bermuda International Film Festival are on sale now, online at www.bermudafilmfest.com and daily from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the BIFF Front Room box office, Number One Shed, Front Street, Hamilton. Individual film tickets are $10.
