Tokunbo gets tough on speeders
Acting Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo sent a strong message to speeders and other traffic violators on Bermuda?s roads in Magistrates? Court yesterday.
He fined Fay Ballard, 62, of Harbour Road, Paget, $1,000 for driving a car without third party insurance and $750 for the car being unlicenced.
Ballard admitted to the court that it was her ?mistake? as she was leaving the Island and was under the impression the car was licenced and insured up to that date.
?An expensive mistake,? Mr. Tokunbo replied.
He fined Tamell Talbot, 23, of Mullet Bay, St. George?s, $1,000, or 100 days default, for driving a motorcycle without third party insurance and $250, or 30 days default, for the motorcycle being unlicenced and gave Talbot until July 27 to pay the fine.
