Harris scores a hat trick!
Dr. Edward Cecil Harris, MBE, PhD, has done it again. He has launched the third volume of Heritage Matters, his essays on Bermuda history originally published in the Mid-Ocean News, and now in The Royal Gazette’s Saturday Weekender,At a book launch this week, Minister of Educastion and former Premier Dame Jennifer Smith joined other keynoters in hailing Dr. Harris as one of Bermuda’s national treasures, being among other things executive director of the Bermuda National Museum.Dr. Harris merited congratulations, Dame Jennifer said, along with others concerned with the book’s colorful design and production, particularly Paul Shapii of Brimstone Media; and the Bank of Bermuda Foundation for its sponsorship giving bright prospects for future volumes four, five and six.The Bank of Bermuda Foundation, underscoring its sponsorship of Heritage Matters 3, noted on the colorful cover how the eccentricities of Bermuda’s colorful history come to light in Dr. Harris’s Third Volume. It wondered who could resist 400 years of toilet history, King Neptune and the calendar girls, fourth of July spies, some of the world’ most unusual tombs, the Tidal Wave That Wasn’t and a US President’s Bermuda love affair, which are some of the stories in the new volume.Heritage Matters: Page 27
