Regulatory Authority seeks comment on impact of BTC sale — by this afternoon
Telecommunications industry regulator the Regulatory Authority (RA) is inviting comment on the repercussions of the acquisition of the Bermuda Telephone Company by Barrie OpCo Ltd.
At the same time, it is inviting comment on KeyTech Ltd acquiring control of Bermuda CableVision Ltd.
Third parties who wish to present their views on the deals have until 4pm this afternoon to do so.
The public notice on the RA’s website was placed there on July 28. The Royal Gazette became aware of it only today.
Barrie OpCo is a recently incorporated Bermuda company owned by an independent investor group with experience in telecommunications. It will purchase 100 percent ownership from KeyTech.
The RA notice states: “The comments to be considered by the Authority will be limited to whether the proposed transactions are likely to:
a. have an effect(s) on competition within Bermuda’s electronic communications sector;
b. have an effect(s) on the residents of Bermuda with particular interest in, but not limited to, the provision of electronic communication services in Bermuda;
c. have an effect on innovation within Bermuda’s electronic communications sector.”
