As part of their writing-to-learn class, the kids trekked to Hamilton to send letters to a rather special person...Santa Claus.

And anyone who caught a glimpse of the letters' contents would know just what makes five to six-year-olds tick.

Some critics might argue they were a little slow in getting to the point, but a little politeness never harmed anyone. After all, when asking for a few favours from Santa it's as well to point out first just how well you've been behaving.

Primary 2 teacher Mrs. Kathleen Young highlighted some of the items topping the youngsters' shopping lists.

"They asked for such items as trains, cars, racing cars, bikes and Barbie dolls, among other things,'' she laughed.

Now, all they have to do is wait for Christmas morning.
