their cars after her horrific experience this week.

A visibly shaken Mrs. Pat Hibberd saw a small child playing in a large plastic bag in the back of a car.

But there was no way Mrs. Hibberd could tell the mother to stop the child endangering its life because of the traffic.

She said: "We were stopped at traffic lights and I could see this car in another lane.

"The mother was sitting in the driving seat and I could see this large bag in the back. The kind you wrap around furniture.

"Then, to my horror, I saw the bag move and I realised a child was playing in there. There was nothing I could do. I tried to attract her attention but even if I had got out of the car she would have driven away.'' Many plastic bags contain warnings not to allow children to play with them because of the danger of suffocation.

Mother-of-two small children, Mrs. Hibberd says she is concerned to warn other mothers about dangers of allowing children to roam around cars.

She said: "In England children have to wear seatbelts. Here it is different because of the speed we travel, but you still have to be careful.

"I was just dreading picking up the paper tomorrow and reading of the death of this child. I just hope its mother spotted it in time.''
