According to Works and Engineering Ministry plans, the Old Military Road site will be home to a dressmaking shop, welding facility, martial arts school and church meeting rooms.

It will also be used for motorcycle and furniture repairs.

But the DAB said the permission was only granted for a limited period -- until February 28, 2001 when the building will have to revert to its old educational use.

In other planning news, Bermuda Digital Communications received permission to erect two 12-foot whip antennae, two reception dishes, a new equipment hut and a 8-foot high fence on Wilderness Lane in Smith's Parish.

The equipment forms part of the company's planned cellular phone network.
