Dandy Town Hornets were crowned Under 15 Youth League champions on Saturday at St. John?s Field.

But their BFA-Appleby championship-deciding match with The Academy ended in controversy when, with scores level at 3-3, an Academy goal was awarded and then disallowed by referee Antoine Augustus after consultation with a linesman because of an apparent handball.

Excitement was already at fever pitch with The Academy ? only two points behind the league leaders ? needing to secure victory to pip Town to the title.

But just when their supporters thought their young side had pulled off a sensational, last-gasp triumph, the referee?s decision poured cold water on their celebrations.

There were plenty of angry protestations from the touchline, with one parent of an Academy player actually walking onto the field to remonstrate with the referee, soon followed by a parent from Town.

Both parents were eventually removed and the game allowed to continue, although tensions continued to run high.

The match itself was an entertaining, high-scoring affair.

For Town, Nahki Wells bagged a brace and Ryan Tyrell scored one while the Academy replied through Khimo Harrison, Marcelos Thomas and Reginald Thompson-Lambe.
