Not The Um Um Show - now on YouTube

Bermuda's popular Not the Um Um Show may be over for good but you can relive the memories and laughs on YouTube. The Not the Um Um Show started in 1984 as comedy troupe who wrote and performed political skits and songs to poke fun at life and politics in Bermuda. The shows continued until 2009.Tim Taylor, one of the founding members, said he was spurred on to create the YouTube channel by his niece. However, he says the quality of some clips is not great because it has been manipulated so much.“Our first show was 1984 as we went on we filmed them on VHS, took them off and edited them and then put them back on VHS,” he said. “And then those VHS tapes started to fall apart so we had them transferred on to DVD a few years ago.“So the clips on YouTube are sixth generation. It's not like the kids these days that shoot on their phone and upload it right away.“But we always used to say the show was about the words and not the images.”So far there are clips from their 2002, 2003 show and their final show in 2009.They will continue to update the site with clips and people who want to see a particular Not the Um Um Show skit can request it on the channel. The comedy skits are done by Bruce and Fred Barritt, Chris Broadhurst and Mr Taylor. For the channel, go to: http://www.youtube.com/user/NTUUPlayers?feature=mhum#p/u
