China Automotive Holdings Ltd. has completed its purchase of controlling interest in Bermuda-registered Whimsy Entertainment Co., Ltd.

Whimsy is a publicly-traded company on the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong engaged in operating and franchising indoor family entertainment centres and in trading game equipment and merchandise primarily in Hong Kong and China.

The shares in Whimsy were acquired by cash purchase from Wayton Industrial Limited and Mainstay Associates Limited, both wholly owned by Mr. Kiu Chung Kun and his spouse Ms. Kin Yu Wong.

The aggregate purchase price for the 33.69 percent interest in Whimsy was some $3.7 million (HK$28,868,750).

As a result of this share purchase, the Brilliance China Automotive is the largest shareholder in Whimsy, and views this transaction as an opportunity to participate in the future growth of the Hong Kong market.

The Bermuda incorporated Brilliance China Automotive was established in 1992 to own a 51 percent interest in Shenyang JinBei Passenger Vehicle Manufacturing Company, Ltd., a Sino-foreign joint venture enterprise established in 1991.

Shenyang Automotive, located in Shenyang, the capital of Liaoning Province and the commercial centre of northeastern China, is a leading manufacturer and distributor of minibuses in the People's Republic of China.
