HWP boosts students' education
awards worth $7,500 each from the HWP Group.
Nicole Joell, 20, a former student at Warwick Academy and Bermuda College, and Levar Wilson, 22, who attended the Whitney Institute and the College, are the first recipients of the Sir John Plowman Scholarship.
Ms Joell, from Southampton, will use the money to help her train as a pharmacist at Acadia University, in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Mr. Wilson, a former apprentice with the company who is from Devonshire, is training as an automotive technician at Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic College in Barbados.
The scholarship, which was launched last June, is open to employees of the HWP Group or their children.
Sir John said: "It is particularly pleasing to see two young Bermudians who have dedicated themselves to the fulfilment of their educational dreams and to further their careers through the continued advancement of their chosen profession.
"I see a great deal of promise in these two fine young Bermudians who are a shining example of what Bermuda has to look forward to in the future.''
