Whether you want to be a construction worker, chef or chartered accountant, CedarBridge Academy’s Vocational Career Fair is looking to help students explore their options.

This Friday, professionals from a wide cross section of local businesses — including Onion Patch Nursery, Grotto Bay Resort, The Marketplace, D&J Construction and Bermuda Hospitals Board, among others — will be on hand in the school’s gymnasium offering information on their chosen careers.

A spokeswoman for the school said: “We are hoping [these professionals] will be able to provide the students with an in-depth look into various industries, exposing them to the expectations of the business, the skills required and education criteria necessary to work within these fields.”

Students will be encouraged to explore different career aspirations and consider life planning steps that will help them reach their goals.

The fair “will also give them the opportunity to connect with potential mentors, find out about internship possibilities, and work experiences related to their career goals,” according to the spokeswoman.

“The ultimate focus of the Career Fair is to provide students with career awareness, planning resources, and make community connections that will extend the process of learning beyond senior school.”

Local businesses will be asked to set up a booth to provide information, education and empowerment to students.

They will also be tasked with giving students an in-depth look into their industry, exposing them to the expectations of the business, the skills required and education criteria necessary to work within each field.

Other businesses represented will include: Air Care, Belco, Bermuda Gas, Bermuda Fire and Rescue, Bermuda Post Office, Caisey Landscaping, Department of Corrections, Fairmont Hamilton and Fairmont Southampton Resort, Noble Automotive, Bermuda Telephone Company, The Royal Gazette and Orchid Nail Spa, among others.

This year’s career fair theme is Endless Possibilities.
