Two accused of knifepoint robbery are granted bail

Two people accused of robbing a man and teenage girl at knifepoint were yesterday given bail.Zharrin Simmons, 19, and Ezra Mark Ararat, 25, were released on $15,000 bail with a surety of a like amount.Their co-accused, Mr Ararat’s 26-year-old brother Ezra Ezzard Ararat II, was remanded back into custody.The trio is accused of stealing a cell phone and gold jewellery and possessing a bladed article on August 27 in Devonshire.They have not been required to enter pleas, as the matter must be heard in Supreme Court.Kenneth Williams, 21, and Victoria Decoute, 16, were injured in the alleged incident, which is said to have taken place on Hermitage Road.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner ordered Miss Simmons and the younger Mr Ararat to report to Hamilton Police Station every day.They were also told to abide by a 9pm to 6am curfew.The elder Mr Ararat was remanded in custody until October 6, when the matter is scheduled to return to Magistrates’ Court for mention.
