All-Star matches at National Stadium last Friday -- although two of the games were decided by penalty shoot-outs.

In the primary match, the West won on penalties after the teams played to a 1-1 drawin regulation time.

The West took an early lead through Purvis' Kor-von Tucker, continued to dominate the half and were unlucky not to add to their lead. But their opponents improved after the break and were rewarded with an equaliser through George Dyer of Prospect Primary.

Victor Scott's Steven Bremar then had a golden opportunity to win the game for the East in injury time but put his penalty kick over the bar.

The East then failed to score any of their penalties in the shoot-out while the two that the West managed proved enough to lift the title. Dyer and Tucker were voted their team's MVPs.

The Middle School match turned out to be an exciting affair as the East grabbed the lead close to the end of the first half only to see the West storm back with three unanswered goals in the second half for a 3-1 advantage.

However, two late goals by a determined East team tied it up at 3-3 and forced another penalty shoot-out which the West won 4-3.

MSA's Andre Pacheco gave the East the lead before goals by Taurean Manders, Lamont Butterfield and Levi Jones turned the match around in the second half.

Manders, of Warwick Academy, scored a fine goal after beating three defenders and calmly slipping the ball past the advancing goalkeeper. Butterfield, a student at Sandys, then scored a long range free kick to give the West the lead, which was extended when Spice Valley's Jones scored with a thunderous shot which took a deflection.

Jason Wade in the West goal continued to frustrate the East side with some brilliant goalkeeping. But the East's determination finally paid off with late goals by Whitney Institute's Zuri Darrell and Cornell Castle.

MVP Wade stopped two East spot kicks to lead the West to a thrilling victory.

Castle was the East MVP.

The senior match wasn't as close as the West never looked back after taking a commanding early lead on their way to a 4-2 victory.

The West stormed to a 4-0 lead inside the first 15 minutes. Kevin Lambe of Berkeley opened the scoring by slipping the ball under the advancing 'keeper after outpacing the East defence. Warwick Academy's Joel Duffy then netted with a long range free kick, catching the 'keeper off his line and scored again a few minutes later when the 'keeper misjudged a long ball and allowed it to bounce over his head.

Jarreau Hayward of Berkeley got on the scoresheet after the East goalie failed to hold onto the ball.

The East fought back to score through CedarBridge's Marlon Dill. And though Michael Ferreira of MSA netted late in the game, it wasn't enough to prevent the West from winning comfortably. Duffy was MVP for the second year running while Dill was the East MVP.
