Man charged with stealing $1.9 million
An employee of the Accountant General's Department was yesterday charged with stealing and money laundering $1.9 million from Government.
Harrison Isaac Jr., 34, was not required to plead to charges he stole $1,904,988.56 from Government accounts sometime between January 1, 2003 and April 15, 2004. He was also charged with money laundering the same amount on the same dates.
The charges are indictable and can only be tried in Supreme Court.
Crown counsel Cindy Clarke, told the Court that Isaac was employed at the Accountant General's Office at the time of the alleged offences.
Isaac was represented by lawyer Richard Horseman.
Acting Senior Magistrate Carlisle Greaves remanded Isaac in custody.
He will appear in Magistrates' Court again via television on April 28 for mention.
