Cable channels shown for free

As a seasonal thank you for their support, CableVision is inviting their subscribers to watch all their channels over the course of ten days at no additional cost.

The offer applies to all existing CableVision customers and includes all CableVision channels except pay-per-view. Digital channels will be made available only to digital subscribers.

Operations manager Alan Smith says: ?From 8 a.m. on Saturday, December 24, 2005 until 8 a.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2006, we?re inviting our customers to enjoy a broad array of programming on channels that they might not have seen before.?

Logic e-mail down

The Logic e-mail server was down for over an hour yesterday morning due to a ?bug? in the software.

Logic?s chief operating officer Richard Kuziomko said it was hard to put a number on the number of people affected by the mail shutdown but it would have been anybody using Logic?s e-mail between 9.13 a.m. and 10.45 a.m on yesterday.

?There was absolutely no mail lost,? he said. ?Somebody was using Logic mail, sending or receiving mail from someone it was cued up and as soon as we restored the system at 10.45 a.m. all the mail came right back.

Mr. Kuziomko said his technicians noticed a problem at 9.13 a.m.and by 9.30 a.m. decided it was a software bug and took the mail down to do maintenance.

?It was a bug in the software,? he said. ?That?s what it was and the supplier worked with the technicians very closely and we were able to fix the bug right away.?

He said Logic fixed its server to avoid it from happening again.

Garbage collections

The Ministry of Works and Engineering and Housing yesterday advised the public of holiday garbage and Christmas tree collection for the New Year:East End - Wednesday December 28, West End ? Thursday December 29. West End ? Tuesday, January 3, 2006 and Thursday January 5, 2006. East End ? Wednesday, January 4, 2006 and Friday, January 6, 2006. West End ? Thursday, January 5, 2006, East End ? Friday January 6, 2006. will be collected from the East End on January 18, and from the West End on January 25.

Warwick burglary

A burglar struck another Warwick home this week, getting away with cash.

Police said $200 was taken from a woman?s house on Tribe Road Four between 8 and 9.20 p.m. on Tuesday.

There have been a spate of break-ins in Warwick and Police have urged all Bermuda residents to take sensible security precautions.

?Horse thief? strikes

A cunning burglar set loose some horses and then nipped in and stole valuables while his victim was trying to coral his animals.

The victim, from Jubilee Road, Devonshire told Police he had received a call from a neighbour at about 1 a.m. yesterday warning him his horses were running loose.

When he went to investigate he found a man in the yard sitting on the wall who told him the fence was cut and the animals had escaped.

The victim heard his animals in the street and went to their rescue but later found money had been taken from his home.

The suspect is five foot, nine inches tall, slim, with a light complexion and a moustache.

Police are appealing for witnesses to call Hamilton police station on 295-0011.
