Bather gets CCS promotion
CCS Group Ltd, a company that pioneered Bermuda's first structured cabling solutions, has announced that Jose Bather has been promoted to director of the cabling services division.
Mr. Bather is the first Bermudian to serve as the director of Cabling Services and will be responsible for the management of twenty-two cabling technicians.
Additionally, he is responsible for the profitability and day-to-day operations of the division.
Mr. Bather joined CCS Group in 1992 as a cabling technician. Mr. Bather received his CI certifications from Siemen Company and Avaya Communication (formerly Lucent Technologies). Following rigorous training he was promoted to a managerial position.
During Mr. Bather's tenure with CCS he has gained knowledgeable experience in all phases of structured cabling, the company said.
His area of expertise covers network design to outside plant installation to commercial and residential network telecommunication installations and on-service maintenance. The company said he has also been highly instrumental in many of the local high-profile projects.
Mr. Bather will now work on building on the company's established reputation as an industry leader providing key information technology and cabling compitencies.
PARTNER RE APP PartnerRe Ltd. announced that Kurt Angst has been appointed Chief Underwriting Officer, Global, effective April 1.
Mr. Angst is taking over Heinz Vollenweider's role of Chief Underwriting Officer and will oversee all of PartnerRe's underwriting activities conducted outside the United States.
Mr. Angst joined PartnerRe at the time of the Winterthur Re acquisition, when he held the position of Chief Underwriting Officer of Winterthur`s Reinsurance operations.
Since 1998, Mr. Angst held the position of PartnerRe`s Deputy Chief Underwriting Officer.
PartnerRe Ltd. has several organisational changes in its Asian Client Partner organisation.
Emil Bergundthal has been appointed head of the PartnerRe Singapore branch effective April 1, 2001 and will assume Executive Client Partner responsibility for Asia, effective July 1, 2001.
The company said its decision to move the headquarters of its Client Partner team for Asia to Singapore represents the logical next step in the progressive evolution of its presence in the Asian markets and is part of PartnerRe's strategic effort to be closer to its clients.
Jean-Noel Schoutteten, currently head of Client Partner Asia, will become Executive Client Partner, Japan and Korea, effective July 1, 2001.
Mr. Schoutteten will be based in PartnerRe's Paris office.
Hardial Singh, formerly head of the PartnerRe Singapore branch, will join PartnerRe's Special Projects team in Zurich, effective April 1, 2001, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer.
As one of his first projects, Mr. Singh will work with Marvin Pestcoe, PartnerRe's Global Head of New Solutions, on a plan for developing the Company's New Solutions business in European and Asian markets.
TERRA FORCE APP Terra Force Dr. Winthrop Smith has been taken on by TeraForce Technology Corporation subsidiary DNA Computing Solutions to oversee the direction and operational expansion of the company.
Mr. Smith brings valuable experience in both commercial and defence electronic markets to the company.
Company moves and promotions DNA Solutions is a newly formed business which is targeting both commercial and defence electronic markets with the development of commercial off-the-shelf products.

BARKER & LINBERG APP Barker & Linberg David Cox has returned to Bermuda to head up the landscape division of Barker & Linberg, chartered architects. He has been working for the internationally renowned landscape architecture firm EDAW where his recent experience has been focused on resort development in Spain, France and the Middle East.
He also managed the design of a 2500 acre resort community development in Egypt and other project experience included work on the award winning scheme for Manchester city centre and regeneration plans for UK urban centres.
Mr. Cox believes proper landscape management will benefit the Island's tourism industry. He said, "Bermuda is a competing resort community. The elements of our infrastructure, including open space, should enhance a resort experience.''
