Paint a gnome, get arrested

Bermuda Police are warning individuals spray painting gnomes around the Island that they will be arrested for wilful damage.

And they are also raising concerns about the increase in anti-social behaviour with Halloween approaching.

It is understood that no one has yet been caught for the gnome figures that have been spray-painted on walls around the Island in blue and black.

The Service has warned those responsible to stop the graffiti or they will be arrested.

A spokesperson said: "We are asking for those involved in this recent trend to cease and desist. Anyone found committing such acts will be arrested for wilful damage."

After a recent increase in laptop computer thefts, the Police are also advising the public to store laptops in a secure places when not in use — at home or unattended in a vehicle — and to record the serial numbers of their computer.

In a separate instance and with one week away from Halloween, the Service would also remind shopkeepers to remain vigilant of anyone trying to buy eggs in large quantities — particularly children and teens.

While Police also said they will be vigilant over the next week for any individuals who might participate in anti-social pre-Halloween behaviour.

A press conference this Thursday will provide more details for the media to keep the public updated on particular initiatives taking place.
