Fairmont, golf club forge long-term deal
A link-up between the Bermuda?s Fairmont Hotels and the Riddell?s Bay Golf and Country Club is set to bring benefits to golf club members and also overseas visitors looking to try out one of Bermuda?s private golf courses. A long-term agreement has been made to give hotel guests access to the 18-hole course at Riddell?s Bay, at the same time members of the Riddell?s Bay club will now enjoy access to hotel facilities and discount rates.
And buyers of condominium and fractional residences planned to be built on part of the Fairmont Southampton Hotel?s golf course will also become members of the Riddell?s Bay Golf and Country Club. ?We are thrilled to be able to offer our hotel guests the benefits of golf play at Riddell?s. In the past, we have found it increasingly difficult to remain competitive as a resort facility with our existing par-three golf course, and have been looking at ways to address this issue over the past few years,? said Norman Mastalir, managing director of Fairmont Hotels and Resorts Bermuda.
?We believe the new agreement will facilitate additional corporate and group bookings from overseas and encourage increased visitors to Bermuda.? A raft of cross-over benefits will be enjoyed by hotel guests wishing to book tee-off times on the golf course and can book in advance, while club members get discounted rates to use the Fairmont golf course, rooms, spa, dining and other purchases at the hotels and continue to enjoy prime tee time reservations. Dave Warren, chief operating officer at Riddell?s Bay Golf and Country Club said: ?We?re pleased to be offering our members the benefits of a relationship with the Island?s leading luxury resort. The benefits make a Riddell?s Bay membership a highly attractive package. We also expect this deal to allow us the opportunity to continue our improvements to our golf facility now and in the future.?
