Library's outreach service praised by Information Minister
The Bermuda National Library’s outreach service was praised yesterday for its work in helping Bermuda’s seniors and disabled.The service delivers books and educational materials to seniors’ residences throughout the Island, as well as the Co-Ed Correctional Facility and the Prison Farm.Visits are scheduled weekly or bi-weekly, depending on the needs of the client.Minister of Public Information Services Neletha Butterfield said: “I am very pleased that the Bermuda National Library is providing such a worthwhile service.“For many seniors and disabled people in our community, the simple act of borrowing books is hampered by transportation of mobility issues.”Outreach assistant Joan Vidale said: “The service attempts to offer a hassle-free option of choices to our seniors from our varied selection of printed and audio literature.“As outreach assistant, I have the wonderful privilege of meeting and interacting with some of Bermuda’s national treasures seniors who have made a lifetime contribution to our country.”
