Bermuda has the talent to run St Regis, says Walter Roban
Bermuda has the talent to run the new St Regis Resort to the standard of excellence the brand is known for, Walter Roban said today.
The home affairs minister made the statement – which he said the operators of the $150 million development agreed with – after he toured the property with Government officials last week.
Mr Roban said: “It is good to see this project nearing completion and I am excited to see the finished resort property, which will not only benefit the people of St. George’s, but Bermuda as a whole.
"It should be noted that there has been over $150 million worth of investment into this St. Regis development so far and it is anticipated that around 200 jobs will be created to operate the resort complex.
He added: “In fact, I believe – as do the developers – that Bermuda has the talent locally to run this St. Regis Resort to the standard of excellence their brand is known for.”
Mr Roban was joined by MP Lovitta Foggo, senator and junior home affairs minister Lindsay Simmons and the Director of Planning, Victoria Pereira, as well as by Department of Planning staff and members of the Development Applications Board.
The St. Regis Bermuda Resort is scheduled to open in April, 2021.
