No Bermudians qualify at swim meet
Again no Bermudians qualified from their heats at the World Swimming Championships in Montreal this week, although both Graham Smith and Ashley Aitken finished second in their races.
Smith finished behind Uruguayan Matias Rementeria Perez in 24.87 seconds in the 50m freestyle second heat yesterday morning, having earlier finished sixth in the 100m butterfly.
Aitken, sister of Olympian Kiera, swam 29.18s in the 50m butterfly to finish behind Yahile Bahamonde of Ecuador.
Aitken also finished fourth in the third heat of the 100m frestyle in 1 minute 1.76s.
In action yesterday, Smith finished eighth in his heat of the 200m breastroke and on Wednesday, Smith finished fourth in the third heat of the 200m individual medly in 2:13.03 and Cowan finished fifth in his 100m freestyle heat in 53.85.
Keira Aitken finished third in heat five of the 50m backstroke in 30.36.

Bermuda's women's netball team suffered three further defeats in the World Youth Championships in the US this week.
They went down 45-21 to Canada and then were beaten 65-24 by Antigua & Barbuda before going down 65-25 to St. Lucia. Bermuda are now at the bottom of Pool J, the weakest pool in the tournament.
