A gambling ship moored in Bermuda was raided by Police and the captain arrested. Police removed a number of gaming machines from the 196-foot luxury ship Niobe Corinthian.
A number of concierges at the Fairmont Southampton Hotel staged a walkout in protest at the promotion of a non-Bermudian to a top post. They claimed there were qualified Bermudians already working at the hotel who should have been promoted.
The sail-training vessel Spirit of Bermuda started undergoing sea trials off the Maine coast in preparation to be sailed to the Island in September. The 112-foot long schooner is now being used as a classroom at sea.
A 51-year-old man became the Island's seventh road fatality of the year after his motorcycle was involved in a collision with a car on North Shore Road, Devonshire. Albert Peets died following a collision at the junction with Foothills Road.
Following a pageant at the Fairmont Southampton Hotel Pembroke West's 14-year old Alneisha Outerbridge was crowned the new Miss Teen Bermuda.
Fisherman Daryll Steynor caught an 800lb, 12-foot long tiger shark at Challenger Banks. Photographs of the fisherman with the monster fish caused a stir when they were sent around the Island by e-mail.
Bank of Bermuda lowered the scale of its proposed new office block on Front Street by one-storey. Its newly submitted plans showed a building that was six storeys. However, the revised plan mean the total demolition of the former Trimingham's department store. The scheme has now been approved.
Cabinet Office was surrounded by the fumigation tent as workers set out to rid the building of termites and other insects.
After a lengthy legal case the luxury Tucker's Town mansion GoldenEye was put back on the market for $22 million, well below the $45 million mentioned in court documents when owners Alan and Vera Rosa Marshall battled against Government to allow them to sell the property to non-Bermudians.
Sean O'Connell celebrated the 30th anniversary of his famous around-Bermuda swim by taking part in a relay event around the Island along with 54 other swimmers. The event was organised by Bermuda Masters Swimming Association and raised between $12,000 and $15,000 for the Bermuda Physically Handicapped Association.
The closed-down Lantana resort in Sandys was put on the market for $18.5 million the resort has been closed for a number of years and occupies 9.6 acres and includes a man-made beach.
Lawyer Mark Pettingill confirmed he is to re-enter politics and stand as a United Bermuda Party candidate to replace Neville Darrell, the current shadow education minister, who has stated he does not intend to seek re-election for the Warwick West seat in the next election.
The Island was put on alert as stinging cauliflower jellyfish arrived in large numbers around the coast together with a number of other species of jellyfish.
Harrison Isaac Jr, who was employed in the Accountant General's Department, was jailed for four years and seven months in New York for his part in a fraud that netted almost $2 million of Government money.
The 35-year-old from Hamilton Parish was caught red-handed by Police at Bermuda International Airport in April 2004. The subsequent investigation revealed how he had managed to use his position within the Accountant General's Department to transfer Government money into bank accounts controlled by himself.
A guest worker was killed when a large tree branch fell on him as he was helping to cut back a row casuarina trees in Fairylands. He was part of a team cutting down a row of trees that edged a private garden.

Akil Williams, 24, became the Island's eighth victim on the roads in 2006 after suffering fatal head injuries when his motorcycle crashed on Parsons Lane, Pembroke as he was attempting to negotiate a left-hand bend.
Hamilton Mayor Jay Bluck was taken ill and moved to the intensive care unit at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital having suffered a suspected heart condition. The 65-year-old was elected mayor of the city in April.
