Hiscox appoints group head of catastrophe research

Hiscox Ltd has appointed Richard Dixon as group head of catastrophe research, the insurer announced yesterday.In this newly created position, Mr Dixon reports to Rob Caton, head of catastrophe modelling. Previously, Mr Dixon was assistant vice president, risk manager at Bermuda-based RenaissanceRe Holdings Ltd.Hiscox also named Jonathan Lord as trainee underwriter for nonmarine treaty business in the US, and Nick Orton as trainee underwriter for nonmarine treaty business international.Most recently, Mr Lord was a claims underwriter at Hiscox and Mr Orton was a catastrophe modeller at Ascot Underwriting Ltd.All three will be based in London.
