Hospitality Institute moves to new offices
The Bermuda Hospitality Institute has relocated to offices at the headquarters of the Bermuda Tourism Authority in a cost-cutting move.
The non-profit organisation, which finds employment opportunities for Bermudians in the tourism industry, was previously located on King Street, but will now operate out of newly remodelled office space on Church Street.
BHI executive director Malika Musson said the move will enable the BHI to upgrade its infrastructure while cutting overheads, allowing additional funds to be directed to initiatives and educational programmes.
“I am very excited about this new step for the BHI,” Ms Musson said.
“Despite our small budget, BHI’s programs and outreach efforts have proven extremely successful. The savings we’ll realise by the move to the new office space will allow us to do even more to promote, encourage and support Bermudians seeking a career in the hospitality industry.”
BTA chief operating officer Karla Lacey, a former head of the BHI, also welcomed the move.
“BHI is a strategic partner to all stakeholders in the Island’s efforts to see Bermudians re-engaged with the tourism and hospitality industry,” she said.
“We’re looking forward to the additional vitality they’ll bring to the BTA’s offices as the dozens of volunteers and young people who participate in their programs utilise this space.”
While the address will change, all other contact details — including e-mail and phone numbers remain the same.
