Social inquiry for crack pipe woman
29-year-old Pembroke woman who admitted obstructing a Police officer and possessing a crack pipe.
Saudia Lynn Virgil of Controversy Lane, admitted the offence which occurred on May 28.
Sgt. Earl Kirby, prosecuting, said Police went to Elliott Street around 12 p.m. where they saw Virgil handing a man some money and receive an object.
As she turned to leave she noticed the Police officers and ran north down Elliot Street.
When Police caught up with her she put the object in her mouth and a struggle ensued.
A homemade pipe was discovered in her handbag and she admitted knowing it was there.
An analysis revealed that the pipe contained traces of crack cocaine.
Duty counsel Ms Victoria Pearman asked for the social inquiry.
Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis granted the request. Virgil was released on $500 bail and will be sentenced on June 20.
PROBATION FOR WOULD-BE THIEF CTS A Warwick teenager who admitted attempting to steal a motorcycle was placed on probation for one year when he appeared in Magistrates' Court yesterday.
Ezekiel Daniel Burrows, 18, of Middle Road, pleaded guilty to the offence.
Sgt. Earl Kirby, prosecuting, said that around 10.15 p.m. Burrows and two other boys went to a Salt Kettle Road home where a 100cc motorcycle was parked.
They took off the front headlight and tampered with the ignition trying to get it started.
An off-duty Police officer approached the scene and they ran off but they were all caught later.
The two other boys were dealt with at an earlier date. They each received one year's probation.
TOURIST FINED $400 FOR DRUNK DRIVING CTS A 28-year-old American visitor who admitted driving while impaired was fined $400 and taken off the road for 12 months yesterday in Magistrates' Court.
John Walsh pleaded guilty to the offence that occurred on May 28, around 3 a.m.
Police Prosecutor Sgt. Earl Kirby, said that Police were called to an accident at the corner of Middle Road and Fieldview Lane in Sandys.
Walsh was riding an auxiliary cycle and collided with another cyclist who suffered a broken leg.
He was arrested after Police noticed that he appeared unsteady on his feet.
BROTHERS FINED FOR INVALID STICKER CTS Two Hamilton Parish brothers were fined a total of $550 yesterday in Magistrates' Court after they admitted using a false Transport Control Department sticker on a car.
Pearson Chester Trott, 44, and his brother Harry, 46, both of Cottage Hill Drive, pleaded guilty to the offence that occurred on April 18.
Police Prosecutor Sgt. Earl Kirby said Pearson Trott was driving the car when it was stopped on Palmetto Road around 10 p.m.
There were two stickers on the car, one dated June 1993 which was found to be valid and another which was dated April '94.
This was found to be invalid. After his arrest, Pearson Trott admitted that he got the sticker from his brother Harry, whose car was damaged a week earlier.
Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis fined Pearson Trott $150 for not having a vehicle licence and $200 for using a traffic document fraudulently.
His brother was fined $200 for also using a travel document fraudulently.
NO LICENCE, FINED CTS A 42-year-old Pembroke man who admitted driving his uninsured auxiliary cycle without a driver's licence, was fined a total of $600 in Magistrates' Court yesterday.
Leroy Bean, of Friswell's Hill Road, pleaded guilty to the offence which occurred on February 6, 1993, on St. Johns Road.
Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis fined Bean $150 for no valid driver's licence, $150 for an unlicensed bike, and $300 for no insurance.
