Bermuda-based RenaissanceRe Holdings Ltd. has received approval to set up a syndicate at Lloyd's of London.

Syndicate 1458 will begin operations in May, underwriting business that incepts on or after June 1, the insurer and reinsurer said. The syndicate will write commercial property and specialty lines business, among other things, RenRe said. Jamie Lewis, a senior underwriter at RenRe, will be active underwriter of the syndicate. The syndicate will be managed by Spectrum Syndicate Management Ltd.
