Police probe holiday theft spree

A construction worker was spotted by staff at the Cambridge Beaches Hotel removing lawn furniture from one of the guest cottages last Tuesday.

When questioned the man said he was on the property to collect tools. The furniture was later recovered concealed behind a roadside hedge.

Also on Tuesday thieves broke into the Northlands Primary School and got away with a camcorder, two cameras and two microphones.

On Christmas Eve a sneak thief escaped with a gold quartz watch, two gold chains, two gold bangles and a gold ring from the staff changing room of Le Figaro restaurant on Reid Street.

And on the same night jewellery and cash were stolen from a house on Ewing Street, Pembroke.

A family of tourists staying at the Sonesta Beach Hotel was targeted by thieves on Boxing Day.

A quantity of cash, a green opal ring and several camera lenses were stolen after the thief got into the room through an unlocked sliding door.

And the Sandys Laundrette was raided on Boxing Day. The thieves trashed the premises and made off with cash and tokens.
