Education Minister the Hon. Clarence Terceira revealed the figure in the House of Assembly yesterday.

He also disclosed that the cost for fitting out the new senior secondary school would be about $3,886,000.

This would cover such items as desks, chairs, photocopiers, file cabinets, theatre seats, cafeteria furnishing, gym equipment, musical instruments, and computers, he said.

"This list is not exhaustive but highlights several aspects of a detail schedule of furniture and equipment,'' said Dr. Terceira.

"In addition, a reasonable factor for normal increase in labour and material costs is included in the estimates.'' Dr. Terceira disclosed the figures after being questioned by Shadow Education Minister and Deputy Opposition Leader Ms Jennifer Smith .

He said the current total estimated cost for restructuring the education system was $117,970,000.

He also said the anticipated annual operating costs would not be "significantly highter in comparison to the operating budget for the fiscal year.''
