Salvation Army pair head for disaster site
Local members of the Salvation Army are heading off to the World Trade Center disaster site to assist their counterparts in New York.
Lionel Cann, the director of the Salvation Army's Community Response Ministry for Bermuda and Captain Brian Fuller, pastor of the Salvation Army St. George's Corps leave Bermuda tomorrow for Ground Zero for two weeks.
A press release issued by the Salvation Army stated that the two will be ministering at the site for two weeks before returning home.
"Both Lionel Cann and Captain Fuller have been trained in Critical Stress debriefing," reads the statement. "They will be involved with debriefing, counselling, spiritual support and canteen work."
Thousands were killed September 11 when two hijacked commercial airliners crashed into, and devastated the World Trade Center.
The vast majority of the dead have not been recovered from the remaining rubble. The Salvation Army is one of many organisations working on the relief and recovery effort.
