Deroza remanded in custody
charge at Supreme Court.
Damon Quincy Deroza, 20, of Cedar Hill, Warwick, is charged with the premeditated murder of his child, five-year-old Lynae Brown.
The girl's body was found floating in Hamilton Harbour, near Longford Road, Warwick, on November 20 last year.
Defence lawyer Mark Pettingill told Chief Justice Austin Ward that he did not believe his client was acting maliciously and may not be able to speak.
At the monthly Supreme Court arraignments session yesterday, Mr. Justice Ward remanded Deroza in custody until April 1 for mention.
Also appearing was Anthony Webster Swan, 36, who pleaded not guilty to one charge of burglary and one of assault.
It is alleged that Swan stole a handbag containing a purse, credit cards and cash to the value of $211 on November 7 last year. It is further claimed that Swan assaulted a Police officer on the same day.
Swan, who was unrepresented in court, was remanded in custody until April 1 for mention.
Anthony Ricardo Richardson, 23, of Pembroke, who late last year admitted mugging a Canadian Senator and sexually assaulting a woman guest of the politician, also appeared.
Richardson has already pleaded guilty to one charge of serious sexual assault and three counts of armed robbery. Four other charges, including deprivation of liberty and housebreaking, have been held back but remain on the record.
