A new window on Bermuda
Menswear shops Aston & Gunn and Alexandre of London in The English Sports Shop are to reopen this week with more contemporary looks later.
General manager of Aston & Gunn Chris Creamer said that on Reid Street the change will mainly be focused on the store's display windows and front entrance display.
"The windows will be a new concept for Bermuda," Mr. Creamer said. "It will be completely different. We will go away from the old wooden floors in the window and make something new interesting."
The concept is to connect the stores' brand names with famous names so in the first part of the year each brand will be linked to the name of a famous artist. Later, brands will be linked to automobiles and other concepts such as the eight wonders of the world.
"There will be a backdrop based on a famous artist's painting so if we do Van Gil the name will be connected to Van Gogh," Mr. Creamer said adding that they are introducing the concept to the windows because it is different and will make great use of their display space.
"Those windows are the best positioned windows on the island and we are making them for people to see something different from the norm."
At the Alexandre of London department upstairs in The English Sports Shop, customers will also notice something different from the norm when the store reopens the department on Friday. The English Sports Shop is very much into one of the corporate colours of the London-based brand and it has painted that colour, a deep dusky pink, in several prominent locations. Mr. Creamer said: "We have on entire wall painted this colour and we have used it to highlight various parts of the department so it has fresh appeal."
The department will also launch new brands Alexandre of London's Gold Label and A39 Saville Row. Mr. Creamer says that both offer a contemporary smart look that will appeal to a wide variety of people.
