The Golinsky Building in Hamilton is to be renamed the Valerie T. Scott building in honour of the former Registrar General.
The building, on the corner of Reid Street and Parliament Street, now houses the Parliamentary Registry after it moved from Burnaby Street in October.
Works and Engineering Minister Alex Scott said: “Valerie Scott was responsible for the Parliamentary Registration throughout her 13 years as Registrar General.
“It was appropriate to name the building after Valerie Scott because she did so much to establish the parliamentary registration process as we know it. We feel this is a fitting tribute.” An official renaming ceremony will take place on December 6. Mrs Scott died in 1987.
