Nineteen earn Activities Professionals qualifications
Staff members at local elder-care facilities have recently earned qualifications from the National Certification Council for Activities Professionals (NCCAP).Health Minister Zane DeSilva said 19 people from Government and private care facilities took part in a two-week course, with all involved earning some level of certification. The course is intended to ensure that participants are able to design and conduct leisure activities for the seniors in the facilities.Three participants earned activity consultant certification, while four earned activity director certification and two earned activity assistant certification. Nine of the applicants earned provisional activity director certification and one earned provisional activity assistant certification.Two of the participants also attended a two-day modular education programme for activity professionals (MEPAP), becoming pre-approved MEPAP trainers. Mr DeSilva congratulated the participants, noting that with two new approved trainers, Bermuda is in a position to offer additional MEPAP courses through Bermuda College.
