Rain washes out Premier games
yesterday as all four games failed to last the required 25 overs per team to constitute a match. All teams will earn one point for a no-result.
The big match at Sea Breeze Oval between joint leaders Bailey's Bay and St.
George's did not get started until 2.15 p.m. because of the rain.
After St.George's were sent in by Charlie Marshall, only 2.5 overs were bowled to openers Wendell Smith (5) and Jason Anderson (12) when the rain sent the teams back into the pavillion with the score 18 for no loss.
Umpires Randy Butler and Wilbur Pitcher made a pitch inspection at 3.25 and called the match off after determining that the run-up areas for the bowlers were too wet.
Officials at Lord's, George Francis and Wilton Woolridge called off the match between St. David's and Willow Cuts at 4.30 p.m. with Willow Cuts 42-1 after 11.4 overs. Jermaine Warner was dismissed in the first over by Rudell Pitcher before Dwight Basden (13) and captain Dexter Basden (27) led Cuts' fightback.
At Devonshire Rec., home side Devonshire were 30-0 after 5.2 overs. Openers Dexter Smith and Donald Norford were both undefeated with 13 at the time.
Rohan Moore had 0-17 off three overs while Freston Hurdle had 0-12 off 2.2 overs.
At Southampton Oval, Warwick were 13-2 against Western Stars after seven overs.
Warwick defeated Somerset Bridge by default on Saturday when their rain-delayed First Division Overs game at St. John's Field failed to start.
A damp wicket put the scheduled 12.00 noon start back to 1.20 p.m. but Bridge then refused to play because only four of their players remained at the ground.
