Exploring careers
The conference was designed to give pupils the opportunity to explore their career options and to interact with members of the community. Discussions were held about important social and political matters. And throughout the day pupils participated in a variety of workshops hosted by members of the business community and Government.
Teachers also had workshops, including Financial Planning, The Parent Connection and Massage Therapy as well as an assortment of others.
"The annual conference, which began during the Sandys High School era, is the second since becoming a middle school,'' principal Melvyn Bassett told The Royal Gazette . "It provides students with the opportunity to explore career options, to express concerns, and to discuss and examine possible solutions to some of the social issues impacting the community.'' He said he also felt that the conference provided a further opportunity to emphasise to parents, community members, and business leaders how essential it was for them to get involved with the school.
