Iris strikes triple gold body
at Bermuda College on Sunday.
A total of 101 competitors took part in the event, with Iris achieving success in the adult section having recently moved up from the junior ranks.
American Ally Szafranski was first in forms, weapons and fighting in her age group, but missed the forms grand championship, having to concede victory to Jessica Mellon, also from the US. Mellon also took the girls weapons grand championship.
Local favourite Dominic Butterfield won his forms division but was runner-up to visitor James Holland, boys weapons grandchampion, in the boys forms grand championship. He lost on second round sudden death to visitor Reggie Levesque, who went on to take first in fighting among the boys 14-15 division.
The kata grand championship went to William Holland of the USA and another visitor, Nick Demetrius, topped the weapons competitors.
Sparring grand champion for men was Jonathan Lugo, who saw off the threat of veteran Vernon Alexander after defeating Reuben Bean.
