Busy time at Dockyard as cruise season begins

More than 2,000 tourists visited Dockyard over the weekend.Cruise ship Queen Victoria docked in the West end historical town on Saturday, bringing with it 1,912 passengers and 970 crew.Transport Minister Terry Lister visited the Captain of the ship and toured Dockyard to mark the beginning of the 2011 cruise season.He said: “By all accounts the inaugural visit of the Queen Victoria was a resounding success. I would like to congratulate and thank all those staff who worked to accommodate the passengers and crew from the ship, in particular Eugene Outerbridge who was responsible for the ferry coordination on Saturday.“His positive attitude was very helpful in moving people efficiently and he took the initiative to ensure that things stayed in control. At the same time, his friendly approach was very much enjoyed by the passengers from the Queen Victoria. He is to be congratulated for his performance and held up as a stalwart ambassador for Bermuda and the Transport Ministry.”Mr Lister also thanked Marine and Ports Pilot Mario Thompson who helped guide the cruise ship in during windy weather.
