Defending league champions North Village got back to winning ways yesterday at BAA Field.

Two clinically executed second-half goals from brothers Kentoine and Kevin Jennings proved to be just enough to silence a dogged Boulevard Blazers and erase the previous week's home loss to Devonshire Cougars.

Village took the lead two minutes into the second-half when the gifted Ralph Bean Jr broke free down the right flank. Twisting his marker like a pretzel near the touchline, Bean then provided a pinpoint cross which was met on the full by the boot of Kevin Jennings who smashed the ball home from 12 yards.

Not to be outdone by his younger sibling, Kentoine Jennings, in typical fashion, rose at the back post to head home cousin Jemeiko Jennings' corner ten minutes from time to put the match beyond Blazers' reach.

Adding to Blazers' woes was the senseless sending off of Darius Cox seconds from the final whistle. Cox was sent packing for a second bookable offence, kicking the ball away, after referee Leroy Wilson had blown his whistle in the 89th minute of play.

"That's what I always look to do - help the team," said a composed Kentoine Jennings afterwards, obviously delighted to celebrate his return to action in style. "When opportunities like that come along you must take them - especially against a team like Boulevard.

He insisted the extended summer break hadn't bothered him.

"I felt pretty good. I have been doing a bit of training trying to get myself back in shape," he said. "I tried to push forward a couple of times and get myself into a good rhythm and in the end it finally paid off."

But while their were plenty of smiles in the Village camp, for the second time against the reds this season, poor finishing in front of goal let Blazers down.

Blazers had more then their share of chances to score, particularly in the first half when captain Shaki Crockwell and Raymond Burgess were given a good look at goal.

First Crockwell hesitated to unleash and had the ball bravely collected at his feet by an onrushing Zane Hendrickson as he raced toward goal and then Burgess, inside the 18 yard box, hurried his shot wide of goal with only the 'keeper to contend with.

Those misses nearly proved costly for Blazers as Village went on the counterattack. Kentoine Jennings first had a goalbound shot cleared off the line. The veteran defender then followed up a with another low drive from ten yards which was blocked by Jahmah Samuels.

Blazers' defender Torry Davis, who had a busy afternoon, then cleared a Keith Jennings' effort off the line as the visitors desperately sought to gain the upper hand.

Village managed to get the ball into the back of the net two minutes before the half but Bean's effort was ruled offside.

However, there would be no denying the reds moments after the restart when Kevin Jennings put the finishing touch on Bean's hard work with a wicked drive from an acute angle which left Shejuan Swan clutching at thin air.

That goal, however, seemed to jolt Blazers into action.

The home team responded with several more raids on the Village goal, with the best chance falling to former Wolves' player Che Simmons midway through the second half.

Unmarked in the box, he rose to meet a quickly taken free-kick from the right only to see his free header soar over.

In an all-out effort to grab the equaliser, Blazers' sweeper Stanton Lewis surged forward to add another attacking option up front, while Tekeyhi Walker and Michael Parsons were both introduced.

And the move seemed to be working as Blazers had Village up against the ropes.

However, all their hard work came undone when Kentoine Jennings rose late in the match to deliver the knockout punch against the run of play.
